Exceptional staff, they were super kind!! Not only is the space extremely welcoming and fun to be in, you can use the place to study or meet friends or enjoy a drink by yourself! Free wifi isn’t strong so you’ll most likely use your data.

It’s a vibe, ima say less cause it’s more answers when you go. work and chill.

do they have wifi

Cute and cozy cafe. The staff are iranian, and it felt quite like home. Ideal for reading or working sessions.

Amazing cafe with the nicest people baristas! Great place to work, but go early to get a table in the garden. Also, they sell Schwartz Montreal smoked meat sandwiches!

I love this place - the coffee is good and it’s beautiful inside and out. However I have to take off one star because apparently they have a “no laptops on the patio” policy. I was asked to stop working even though there were plenty open spots around me. They don’t want people sitting for hours in their laptops I guess. After spending $10 on a coffee (including a tip) I was hoping I could sit and do some work for a little bit. I’ve never heard of this anywhere else! Please make your laptop policy more clear, I was really enjoying my time here and I’m disappointed I have to leave.

Amazing place. A-must see place! Only problem is the wifi sucks.

Very cute cafe! I went on Sunday and even when there was a big line, I didn’t have to wait so much to get my order. I sat on the patio 💖 and then worked a bit in the big shared laptop table. wifi wasn’t the fastest but I got my things done. Music was great inside

I didn’t try the food because I can’t eat gluten but it looked good.

SEE update below:
Such an incredible place! They have delicious local roasters and baristas that actually know and understand coffee. Great customer service and beautiful cafe!

UPDATE: there has definitely been a decline in customer service skills in this cafe. We are loyal local customers but have really been turned off by the self-absorbed baristas who treat many of their customers as “bothers” to their social media and chat time.
5 employees working simultaneously yet not one of them demonstrated an ounce of attention to the customers on the bar or their needs.

I came here today it was super busy and all the tables in the backyard and in the back of the cafe were occupied. I decided to sit at the table near the baristas and tur ed on my laptop to do some work. 10 minutes later one of the baristas comes over and asks me to leave this table and move to one of the tables in the back of the cafe because apparently my table was laptop free. Surely, that's a suggestion not a rule?! I was so shocked that I couldn't say a word or mention that other tables were taken and thus one was the only free one. I had to rush out of the cafe totally shaken and upset. Is this the way you treat your customers? Does it support the community?

The most beautiful atmosphere I have seen for a cafè. Literally looked like a secret garden. They have wifi and people come here to chat or work. However, the drinks were mediocre IMO. They didn’t have much food bites when i was there either. I will visit again for sure :)

Love the atmosphere and the many little details in the decor. I can spend the whole afternoon here, reading, chilling, doing work. I love their garden patio during the summer with many greenery and birds flying around. Their mocha is one of the best in the city. Highly recommend.

Great place with a royal vibe. You can choose to sit inside or in patio. Its decoration got me at the first sight. Highly recommend to visit. But the seats inside are limited. Don’t recommend for laptop staying

customer service and kindness really goes a long way for a business that’s in service of others. i’d give one star but i enjoyed the drink and aesthetic of the place. when you walk in you’re not welcomed nor did i ever feel it being there. fighting for attention of staff that’s overbooked at a quiet time isn’t it either. also state in your business that laptops are only for the back or else they may assume you can use it anywhere sitting in your cafe with paid items. wanted to come back to experience the pretty back patio but the lack of kindness gives me the ick. cafes are highly saturated the least you can do to stand out is be nice but as long as you’re open right. whatever, onto the next

Hot chocolate and chai latte were good and not too sweet. Dogs are encouraged, pet-friendly. Tablet/laptop not encouraged to create a cozy environment for social interaction.
They have St-Viateur bagels, which are tasty and good. Small but cozy coffee shop.

Jessica Diep14.02.2025

Super busy and cute cafe. They have designated spaces for laptops and other spots in the cafe for reading and chatting. Great atmosphere here.

Eileen Lau14.02.2025

Definitely one of the more aesthetic cafes in the city. There are lots of plants, candles and vintage artwork and decorations.
There is a no laptop policy on weekends in the front room which is a nice touch.
Unfortunately the coffee and the baked goods are more expensive than most of the other cafes I've been to.
They have a pretty good selection of pastries and bagels as well as decaf versions of all their coffee drinks.
Wi-Fi is a little bit spotty and there is no service on the upstairs patio.
The cafe can get extremely busy on weekends.
There is only one washroom on the ground floor.
Lots of opportunities to take nice photos here but I wouldn't work here unless it's a quieter weekday.

This place used to one my favorite until they started their no laptop policy. They have a dedicated space / working space which is extremely loud (loud music) and stuffy (no AC) If you are looking for a place to work! Find another place with a better space and service.

aamna khan14.02.2025

Super lovely place with a great patio at the back for the summer. Love how quaint and artsy the decorations are. Perfect place to work (they have a no laptop policy on the weekends) during the weekdays. Kind of expensive but the atmosphere is worth it

Café 23 is a delightful gem in the heart of the city, offering a serene and aesthetically pleasing ambiance that sets it apart from typical urban cafés. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a charming vintage vibe, complete with warm lighting, rustic furniture, and tasteful decor that feels both nostalgic and modern.

This café is perfect for those seeking a peaceful spot to relax, work, or simply enjoy some downtime. I found it incredibly convenient to set up my laptop and get some work done while sipping on their expertly crafted beverages. The staff here deserve special mention for their friendliness and efficiency—I didn’t have to wait long for my order, which added to the overall positive experience.

What stood out the most was how inviting the atmosphere was. It’s one of those places where you lose track of time, reluctant to leave. However, I do feel that the space may not be as cozy during winter, as it seems better suited for warmer days. Despite this minor drawback, Café 23 is undoubtedly a fantastic spot to visit, whether you’re looking for a quiet workspace, a meet-up spot with friends, or just a place to unwind.

Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a café with character and charm!
