Dark Matter Coffee - Osmium Coffee Bar

Great study place and had several good experiences staying there. Good coffee. However, the wifi always doesn't work make us very annoying and hesitating to go… How can I let the owner know to get the internet fixed?

Best coffee in Lakeview and the fact that they carry other neighborhood delights such as Steingold's bagels and Cafe Tola's empanadas makes this the only place to get your weekend AM caffeine fix.

Only knock I have is the wifi is a little finicky. Maybe it's just my devices, but I can never access like 25% of websites while on their network.

The music here is very nice. Solid wifi! The iced Chocolate City is easy to recommend.

Great ambiance, wifi, mobile ordering, and better coffee drinks than you can get at competitors for a better price.

Their Mayan Mocha has shocked me back into consciousness more times than I can count. Always have good little donuts and other bites to eat. Grab my coffee beans here whenever I am running low. Service is great, love the bar setup they have, very cool. Hours are excellent, wifi is good, music is usually energetic, nothing to complain about. love it here.

The good: great baristas, wonderful unique drink. Love the atmosphere too!

The bad: the issue someone mentioned from *seven* years ago with the wifi is still an issue. I came in specifically to work and was quite frustrated to find out I couldn't get internet access despite there only being maybe 7 other people there. The baristas were super helpful and understanding, gave several suggestions, it was sincerely appreciated.

It's misleading to say you have wifi when it stops working so easily and there is no solution. I sincerely hope ownership will prioritize this at some point and upgrade their network because it was a great place otherwise.

Holy smokes this place brings me back to 2018. That’s how long this place has been around (at LEAST) Not sure the story but I know my story. I was a young man, scared in this polluted world. Osmium was the portal back to GOOD VIBES 🤙

I stepped in again this week while it town. It all came back to me. I almost cried (key word: almost). Unfortunately, the wifi wasn’t working so I had to go to a different coffee shop but that doesn’t mean it’s bad!! It’s really good and I liked the vibe and everyone else was on their computers so I’m probably just not smart enough to make it work :/

Great atmosphere, nice hot chocolate/mocha type drinks and excellent pastries. Wonderful friendly staff. Open late and there are often outlets that are available. I’ve been here multiple times and the vibe is always excellent.

The wifi never works properly though; otherwise I’d be here all the time!

I would really like to love this place. The coffee is great. But you can't sit and work at the spot because somehow they have wifi that actually limits a lot of sites you can go to? The staff said it's been a problem for 2 years and seemed like it's just normal. Really strange for a coffee shop to deter you from actually hanging out. Super disappointing.

Great spot to work and chat with friends. It gets busy but that only adds to the atmosphere. The espresso was top tier and their agave latte was surreal. The wifi is super good as well. I really enjoyed this place! My only comment might be about the waiting process, you need to be alert for them they call your order. Since the place is loud and busy, one might not hear it the first time. So keep that in mind. Overall, great experience.

Awesome outdoor seating, lovely place to sit and do some work.

Coffee pretty good, vibe pretty nice, still clinging to the steampunk thing but they seem to still pull it off so kudos to them.

Really relaxing but vibrant coffee shop! I came here to work and was able to easily get a lot done. The coffee was good although extremely flavorful (almost too much additional non-coffee flavor, too bold), the wifi was fairly fast and the seats were comfortable to sit in for a longer period of time. Would come back, for working or for just a coffee.

This place is super cute with chill vibes. Great place to work remote from.

The drip coffee had a dark chocolate base taste and smooth texture. There was no dry aftertaste. I couldn’t decipher any other flavors from the profile. So, the dark chocolate alone was the strongest/only flavor. The decor in the cafe is interestingly themed. Seemed like a good place to do work. The coffee was served extremely hot, so be careful!

Good tasting beans plus lots of tables to work/study and cool vibe. Love the compostable cups/straws

Make sure that if you're visiting this place, that you will be happy with the time they close (6pm, but cafés can change hours, so check). I find this place cozy. I've been to their other locations, and the others are comfy too. I remember way back, I brought my laptop, a pen and a pad, and it felt conducive to productivity. I stopped bringing laptops to cafés. There is a garden in the back, with seating, and I've seen people relocate depending on the weather and their moods. I bought an endless cup, and a maple bacon donut. I went to Chicago Comics first, so I had reading material that interests me. I also took a picture of the gluten-free donut because I have a friend who does his best to avoid gluten. Maybe he'll want to join me another day. If you're very particular about gluten-free donuts, they can run out, maybe call first, check if they have any left. 😋👍

A couple of my coworkers and I came here to work last week. Great atmosphere and service. Their drip coffee is really good but the barrel aged mocha was !!!!!!!
