Wish they were open longer and had cheaper prices but overall very impressed. Staff was kind. wifi worked well. Bathrooms were pretty clean and stocked. They even care for the homeless which I have not seen any coffee shop here do
Came here a couple years ago because I was a student at Truman College across the street. This particular interaction really stuck to me so figured I’d post about it since I remembered. There was a white guy there that treated me so poorly. He seemed so irritated by my presence and just gave a horrible vibes. Not sure why he treated me this way as I was just another costumer. I came up to him to ask for the wifi password and he didn’t even have any eye contact with me and simply pointed with his head at the sign that had the wifi password written on it. Just a horrible very unwelcoming experience so I never returned.

I love the big windows and quiet setting. The seating arrangements are ideal and comfy. Really enjoyed working here and had clean bathrooms. However it closes at 4 pm. Wish I could have stayed longer.
Always a great spot to study at (best local coffee shop wifi in Chi town, besides Starbucks)!
Also, the coffee is superb, staff are welcoming, and vibe is pretty chill.
Tip: if you’re going there to study, most spots in the back don’t have an outlet (@EmeraldCityCoffee would be cool to add some there if you guys can)!
Nice coffee, and nice workers there. Good to work in your laptop.
Wonderful place imo. I live across the street and stop in often. Coffee is great, as are the bagel sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Two rooms for seating/reading/working on your laptop if you want. Every employee I’ve met there has been friendly and works hard. Thank you for having me, I’m really grateful you guys are in my neighborhood!!!! Much love
I have been to a few coffee shops and this is the best I have attended in a while. The art work, music and ambience makes it the ideal spot to work, study or relax.
The pesto mozzarella bagel sandwich was good but the iced cafe latte lacked any sugar.
The disadvantages are that this place closes early and their kitchen closes much earlier. One day they were opened till 5 but closed the kitchen at 2 pm which doesn't make sense. This is not an example of good customer service and doesn't look good from a business standpoint.
I would love to come here again to work if they could open late till 6 or 7 pm.
I love this café and usually stop by most mornings for a drink while walking my dog around the neighborhood. The staff is always amazing, but today I had an unpleasant experience. A guy in a baseball cap, who was carrying pastries from the kitchen to the bar, was rude to both me and my dog while we were just waiting for our drinks at the station. Everyone else who works here has been great, but this guy needs to work on his attitude if he plans to stay in this industry. After this encounter, I’ll have to think twice before coming back for my morning coffee.
Great coffee, tasty bagel sandwiches, and a fun atmosphere for reading or catching up with a friend. Not super great for working because it’s a bit loud but a nice hangout spot.
👋🏻 Hey fellow Google Maps users! ☺️ I went to this coffee spot/cafe on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 for a remote work day. I stayed from around 10 am - 3 pm. The lady that took my order was very nice. Unfortunately, they don’t have lemons so they were out of lemonade. I decided to give one of their teas a shot. I tried their apricot black tea. I’m a pretty picky person and didn’t end up liking it. Maybe tea isn’t for me. 😭
☕️ Overall, I had a good experience at this spot. It gave me cozy vibes. They even had board games and puzzles. The music was played at a very good volume, somewhat loud enough for you to hear it as background music, but not too loud. The cushioned bench I sat at wasn’t the most comfortable and didn’t seem to be the most sturdiest. I was able to successfully get my work done and meet 2 of my students in person. I definitely plan on coming back here if I meet with my students again in person.
✨ Extra things that I felt like were cherries on top to my experience being here. I saw the cutest wiener dog ever and the lady that took my order gave the doggie bacon. In the bathroom, the entire wall including the door was a chalkboard. I had to represent the non-profit I work at, College Possible.
💌 I hope this review helps Emerald City Coffee & its current and future customers.
Have a nice day! ☺️
Food is good, the inside is nice and cozy, but the coffee quality is super inconsistent and entirely dependent on who is working.
Genuinely good coffee. Quiet room in the back door getting work done. Really a wonderful spot.
This place is great! Whimsical, quirky and so welcoming! I really like coming here for inspiration, sketching, or getting any work I need done in a cozy environment thats really close to where I live.
Its an artist's haven. Such a unique vibe, great coffee!
