Great place to work from home if you are expecting it to be a late night. You can get coffee or entrees here. That's sooo rare in the States...coffee shops like this either wouldn't serve meals or they would close early or both. I had an Americano and pesto pasta. It was chilly out so it really warmed me up and curbed my cravings. Several of the outlets don't work so make sure you grab a table with a working outlet. I very much enjoyed the ambiance here and would love to go back next time I am in Manchester.
Cool place to chill or get work done.
Dog friendly 🐕
Lovely place to work from and the food is excellent. The Victoria Sponge is a dry. Opt for the all day brunch menu instead
A nice dog-friendly brunch spot located in the Northern Quarter, between Piccadilly Gardens and Ancoats.
Ezra & Gil reflects the Manchester industrial heritage in the choice of décor, with bare-brick walls, steel columns and wood & leather furniture. There is plenty of seating space with high tables near the windows as well as tables for two, four and eight! It is very bright as there is a light source above every table. I visited the restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon and there were many unoccupied tables, however, I believe that it is very busy on weekends. Quiet music is always playing in the background, which does not distract people from their conversations. It is dog-friendly, so feel free to visit Ezra & Gil with your pawed friends.
The service was really good. I was welcomed at the entrance by a member of staff, who made sure that I know where everything is on my first visit. As I went there just for a coffee, I made my order at the counter, told the barista my table number and went to my table. My coffee and bake arrived five minutes later, which was alright because I was sitting in, but I am not sure if it will suit someone in need for a quick coffee takeaway.
The flat white I ordered was nice. Strong and creamy. For some reason I tasted some hints of wafers, in addition to a chocolaty flavour. Rose and Pistachio bake was great. You get an amazing combination of flavours with salty nuts and a soft taste of roses. The price is about an average for Manchester, but some cakes are on a pricier side.
Ezra & Gil offers a variety of espresso-based drinks and teas. The selection of food options is very good. You can get different salads, poke bowls, pasta dishes and toasties in addition to more than a dozen of brunch options, that are available until 5 PM. A small part of the shop is also dedicated for fresh produce, some pantry fillers and merchandise.
To summarise, I think that Ezra & Gil is a great NQ restaurant, ideal if you want to have a brunch, or just some food with you coffee. It can be a good working/studying space. And do not forget to invite your "extended family" with you, as they are also welcome!
Knowledgeable and helpful staff. I found it more of a laptop friendly place than a meeting place
Really nice atmosphere, liked the laptop free tables but laptop friendly window seats. Great place to meet with friends or get some work done. Lovely staff and food.
Everything seems to be fine, but the staff can tell you where to sit whether you want it or not (not laptop friendly). The air conditioner does not work for the second year. Avoid if possible during heatwave.
One of my favourite vibes in NQ, can hang with laptop very useful sockets by the window seats, good variety of drinks, tasty food but on the pricey side, portions are quite small, e.g I payed 11p for French toast
Amazing food, great decor and super friendly staff. I came in here to do a little bit of work on the laptop and had a great matcha latte and salmon on toast. They are dog friendly.
Great atmosphere to work, chill and chat in. Great idea about no laptop zones in the main seating area with laptop use at the side. Friendly staff and welcoming. Thank you
Nice place to visit. Some strange laptop protocols
Cappuccino tasted more like a latte and the espresso loaf was pretty dry. Not cool that we had to move because they don't allow laptops on many of the tables and most of the 'laptop tables' were occupied.
Lovely place to drink and eat! Great food, decent value for money and the food is always bang on.
It can get a little busy so queuing might be necessary on weekends.
You also have the option to get a table where you can work with a laptop too.
Overall, excellent!
Friendly and fast service. The hibiscus tea was phenomenal. The vegan breakfast plate has a fun assortment.
This is more social happy time than laptop, so come with friends :)
