About Starbucks Coffee - Kyoto Ninenzaka Yasaka Chaya

About

Starbucks Coffee Kyoto Ninenzaka Yasaka Chaya is a unique café housed in a traditional Japanese building over 100 years old. Located in the historic and cultural setting of Kyoto, reminiscent of the Taisho era, this café preserves the historical exterior while the interior is creatively revitalized using the existing space. A highlight includes traditionally styled tatami rooms with three seating areas. Art pieces inspired by the clarity of water movements from the famous Otowa waterfall at Kiyomizu-dera adorn the rooms. The café offers an unparalleled coffee experience, harmoniously blending local tradition with Starbucks coffee culture. It is a place where baristas and guests celebrate the connection between Kyoto and Starbucks. The use of Japanese washi paper and Nishijin fabric in the interior emphasizes the fusion of tradition and modernity, giving this Starbucks its unique charm.

Such a lovely cafe. We worked from it for about 4 hours. It was crowded, but most people stayed for 15 minutes before leaving. Ordering was super fast. The toilet is public. wifi is great, super fast.

Only downside is the bad smell, as people take their shoes off and everyone’s a tourist and have been walking long distances (the smell was intermittent, it depended on different people who come and go)
