Customer service was awful. My friend and I were looking for a coffee shop to eat and do homework. My friend and I walked in around 10:30 and proceeded to order. My friend ordered first and asked to take out ingredients due to dietary restrictions. The barista told her to just build her own sandwhich cause it was too much to take out and and sub ingredients. My friend doesn't hear well so she asked the barista to repeat herself at one point and she got angry, and was even ruder after that. When we both ordered she didn't even tell us our totals. She was also rude to a customer after us who asked to use the bathroom. She threw the key on the counter instead of handing it or placing it. The coffee wasn't good, and the blta was made on a super small croissant, not worth the money. I understand she was working alone but it wasn't busy at all. She acted as if it was a bother to serve us. I understand people have bad days but it's not a reason to take it out on customer's and bring that energy into the work place.
I visited Skybound Coffee three days in a row while visiting San Diego on a business trip. Had I only gone the first two days and reviewed the shop at that point, they would have received a 5-star rating.
The gentleman working the first two mornings was friendly, and extremely accommodating. He hustled while he worked the stead stream of customers. The food was consistent each morning. The coffee was very good, sourced locally I learned, and made to order, extra hot with either the house made (no added sugar) almond milk and oat milk; I tried both. I enjoyed the chimichurri avocado toast without egg, sauce on the side - it’s quite strong. The toast was nice quality grain bread and toasted to a crisp (in a good way). Skip to the third day when I had the unfortunate experience and last impression of Skybound Coffee marred by the girl working that morning. When I first arrived she may have been on a personal call on speaker phone, the person remained on speaker at least for a while. More importantly, and relevant to the service: she lacked the empathy and cheer the man had. The coffee drink she prepared was fine. The toast however was warmed at best, I asked her to toast it longer. While it wasn’t the same experience, I could have been satisfied, until the moment when I discovered there must have been turmeric on something she gave me that ended up on an off white sweatshirt I was wearing for the first time. She said it was likely in the chimichurri sauce. But why was there turmeric powder on my sweatshirt? I did’t spill the sauce. When I asked for something to clean it with is when I really noticed her uncaring. I brought it to her attention: she laughed. I recommend the coffee and the food, but if you go, expect that the service may be slow and definitely inconsistent.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. STANDING IN FRONT OF THE COUNTER WHILE ONE EMPLOYEE WAS EATING AND THE OTHER EMPLOYEE WAS working BEHIND THE COUNTER. NOT ONCE DID HE GREAT MY FRIEND AND I. SO I SAID HELLO, DID YOU SEE US STANDING here. He Sorry No. AFTER reading THE REVIEWS, I WOULDN'T LET MY DOG EAT HERE AND I DON'T HAVE A DOG..
I’ve been here nearly every morning for the past week to work from my laptop. I absolutely LOVE the açai bowls, Tokyo toast (which I add bacon to, yum!) and their caramel latte is to die for. Their espresso is apparently ranked top 15 in the world!
I think what I love most about this place is the service. Alex might be the friendliest, kindest human alive. He is so accommodating and I feel like he truly loves what he does. McKayla is top notch too - one time I was on a work call and wasn’t able to grab my order and she discreetly brought it to my table without me even asking! That meant so much. Also Nicole - so personable and I want to be her best friend lol. I love the team and it already feels like a little sliver of home!
The young lady working needs a different job she was acting like she wants the place free of people.
